A little about our UHM family

Jim and Mary Clary

Jim has been a hunter and outdoorsman for sixty years. He earned his B.S. and M.S. in fisheries and wildlife biology from Michigan State University and his Ph.D. from Pennsylvania State University. He served as an officer in the United States military during the Vietnam War and was honorably discharged as a Major in 1975. Jim has co authored many articles on shooting and hunting with Mary, his bride of 24 years.

Mary has hunted for thirty years, having been taught by her father, a former mountain lion hunter in New Mexico. Everyone agrees that Mary is a better shot than Jim. She is hard to beat with her thumbhole-purple-stocked Ruger M77 chambered for the.300 Win Mag.

Jen O'Hara

Jen O'Hara, co-founder of the iconic outdoor fashion line, Girls with Guns Clothing® (GWG), is a Mossy Oak Pro Staffer from Northern California. Although she currently resides in Red Bluff, California, approximately 2 hours north of Sacramento in the heart of the Central Valley, she is originally from Adin, California, a small town in Modoc County that boasts a population of 400 people.

While she grew up in a family of hunters and outdoorsmen, it wasn't until she was in her late 20's that she had the opportunity to hunt and fill her own tags. She was given the opportunity to hunt Northern California Blacktail, and she spent many hours hunting alongside her GWG business partner and best friend, Norissa Harman, and Norissa's husband, Brian. She successfully harvested a beautiful mature 3x3 Blacktail. With a well-placed shot at 65 yards, her love of hunting and her passion for conservation was born!

Tony Martins

Tony Martins developed his passion for hunting as a youngster growing up on the family dairy farm in Southern California, where his main chores included shoveling manure to clean the milking barn, and shooting rabbits to keep the freezer full. You can probably guess which job he liked best!  Everyone in the family was a marksman; from grandpa and grandma and uncle Al, to his parents –  both dad and mom – so keeping the coveted job required developing inherent shooting skills. His writing skills were honed as a business analyst in the pharmaceutical industry, where he and his wife co-founded and operated a consulting and publishing company for more than twenty years. Tony has hunted (and fished) all across North America, documenting his outdoors adventures as a freelance photojournalist.  Known for hunting with muzzleloaders, he also enjoys rifle and bowhunting, and fishing with all manner of implements, from flyrod to spear.  He and wife Deborah live in the White Mountains of Eastern Arizona with their small pack of labrador retrievers.
